Castling is a very effective way of getting your King safe. In order to castle you
must move your pieces so you have a clear path between your rook and king.
The three Pawns and Rook allow for a great defensive position.
Remember you may not Castle if:
• Your King is being attacked (check)
• You have moved your King or Rook
• Your King passes through a square being attacked (checked) by your
opponent.
You may choose to castle on your Kingside or your Queenside.
Whichever side you castle on try and not move your pawns to far forward until
later in the game unless you must. Typically moving one pawn a square or two
pawns a square forward is not bad at all.
